Japara Capel Sands Refurbishment

NCS delivered four projects under Japara’s Significant Refurbishment Program – Phase 2. Capel Sands Aged Care in Capel Sound formed a key part of this cluster, where works focused on uplifting internal spaces and amenities to enhance day-to-day life for residents and staff in this beachside community setting. Refurbishment works at Capel Sands aged care facility included extensive upgrades to kitchens, common areas, main entrances, landscaping, and carpark facilities. Japara Hallam Refurbishment

NCS delivered 11 aged care refurbishments for Japara as part of the Phase 1 program, including the Hallam site. Works at Hallam were carried out in a live environment, requiring considered staging, resident-focused design solutions, and detailed contractor coordination to ensure the facility remained fully operational throughout the upgrade process. This $4M refurbishment project at Japara Hallam Aged Care involved the internal redevelopment of an existing facility, with a focus on enhancing resident comfort and operational efficiency. The works included the complete upgrade of bedrooms, a new living/lounge area, and the modernisation of the facility’s main entry. The project also featured external landscaping and a redesigned carpark to improve accessibility and aesthetics. The project required detailed staging and planning due to the live aged care environment, including the temporary installation of a kitchen to maintain uninterrupted meal service during construction. Regulatory approvals, including a planning permit, were managed alongside challenges such as working around a live NBN cable discovered post-award.
