Hamilton Base Hospital ED Upgrade
The Hamilton Base Hospital Emergency Department Upgrade expanded and modernised the existing emergency department through the delivery of a modular extension and targeted internal reconfigurations, improving patient flow, safety, and operational efficiency within the busy healthcare environment.
The project was designed to create a more functional and secure emergency department by introducing a dedicated public entry, separate ambulance access, a new patient waiting area with amenities, triage and multipurpose rooms, a dedicated Behaviour Assessment Room, and upgraded reception and clinical workstations. Additional facilities included a dedicated security office and Ambulance Victoria triage room to support staff, patients, and emergency services. Delivered within an operational hospital, the project required careful planning to maintain uninterrupted emergency services, manage construction adjacent to active clinical areas, minimise noise and disruption, and address cost and program risks through proactive stakeholder engagement and detailed project controls.
