Homes Victoria – Virginia Hill

The Virginia Hills project delivered 129 new social and affordable dwellings across a 2.95-hectare site, comprising a mix of townhouses and apartment buildings, including accessible housing options.

The development built upon earlier phases of demolition, bulk earthworks, and authority infrastructure, and included the delivery of community infrastructure, landscaped areas, and public open space to create a well-connected residential environment. The project responded to a range of site constraints, including sloping terrain and former mining conditions, requiring the integration of retaining walls and terraced building pads. A collaborative delivery approach was adopted to support Homes Victoria’s broader program objectives, enabling flexibility and opportunities for efficient, fast-tracked delivery while maintaining quality and functionality across the development.

Community impact

The project added 129 new social and affordable homes, including accessible dwellings, while enhancing community amenity through modern housing, landscaping, and open spaces. It also improved safety, connectivity, and the overall renewal of the former ageing estate, while supporting local employment and economic activity during construction and promoting sustainability and environmental improvements across the site.
